Raleigh, North Carolina – Florists are usually overwhelmed around Valentine’s Day, but it was an unforgettable moment for a Raleigh woman whose work was highlighted on national television.
More than 1,000 roses from TG Floristry were featured on a recent episode of FOX’s hit show “Our Kind of People.”
Tiera M George said she was attending a judge’s appointment ceremony in Durham when she learned her daughter was working on the show. She finally got a call from her, asking for help with a scene.
George had one day to put everything in place.
“She was like, ‘Is there any way you could do this?'” George said. “I was like ‘Oh my God’, I was freaking out.”
They were able to pick 1,600 roses for the occasion.
George, the owner and chief designer, said her floral business hasn’t taken the hit others have taken in similar industries throughout the pandemic. Although some weddings were called off, there were opportunities at farmers markets and pop-up events.
“During the pandemic, there was a shift where people kind of wanted flowers in their house because everyone was home,” George said. “We had quite a few more deliveries than normal.”
George said she balanced her higher education with keeping the business going. TG Floristry moved into its physical location on Morgan Street in Raleigh in October.
“We’re a bit overwhelmed right now,” George told WRAL’s Mikaya Thurmond. “It’s kind of hard for me to make a little change and do that. After that, I’m like knee-deep flowers.”
